Virtually all of my blogs are included in this list, from serious to frivolous, from political to personal, from the insignificant to the world stage, from factual to parody. None of these are to be considered politically correct and all, except for quotes, represent my personal opinion.

Like most humans, I believe myself to be correct. Unlike the liberal left, the hard conservative right, or fundamentalist religious zealots, I do not exclude the possibility that my beliefs could be wrong for the world. Also unlike the liberal left I believe in solving problems, not in using those problems as clubs to batter my political opponents and gain power for myself while never offering any practical solutions.

In 1986 I wrote what has become on of my guiding principals for my life and my writing:

When truth and belief come to conflict
. . . It is better tochange one's belief to fit the truth
. . . Than to change the truth to fit one's belief.
Beliefs are the creations of men
. . . while truths are the creations of God.

There are two other quotes that have also been lamplights to my path.

About Howard Johnson:

Howard, an engineer, designer and businessman, launched his sixth career when he became a novelist at age seventy. His first novel, "Blue Shift," is in book stores across the nation. Describing himself as an engineer and scientist who always longed to be a poet, he makes his home on a Tippecanoe Lake in northern Indiana. He spent summers there throughout his entire life, becoming a full time resident in 1984. He has lived in Long Beach California, Cleveland Heights and Euclid in Ohio, Oak Park and Lagrange in the Chicago area and Olongapo in the Philippines.

His late wife, Barbara, a retired Methodist Pastor, lived most of her life in Dayton, Ohio before moving to Bristol, Indiana in 1987. There, she and Howard met. They were married in the Leesburg United Methodist Church in 1993 where they both sang in the choir. After answering the call, she attended training as a Methodist Local Pastor. In 1994 she became pastor of the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Pierceton, Indiana where she served for six years before a debilitating illness forced her to step down from the pulpit. After this she became her husband’’s most helpful critic and proof reader and a creative Christian writer in her own right. Sadly, she passed away on October 16, 2005 after a long battle with several serious degenerative diseases. Between them they have seven children and thirteen grandchildren who have lost a wonderful mother and grandmother. As of October 2007 a great grandson was added to Howard's gang.
